You may get it working with a bios reset. I'm not sure if you should do that with such a lack of knowledge. Getting a 1600 kit is best. The main thing is setup your boot device order after a bios reset. You can mostly ignore everything else. If you only have one storage device with an OS then you don't need to mess with the boot order. It would cycle through until Windows is found.
boot to bios, and select the xmp profile for 1600 or 1866
or place 1 memory module into slot 0 (if slots are numbered/paired 0/2, 1/3) and go into bios to see settings of memory (auto-detect) and save settings.
or remove cmos battery for 5 minutes, insert memory modules into slot 0,2 (if slots are numbered/paired 0/2, 1/3), re-insert cmos battery, then turn on computer and see what happens.

Sorry, that is a link for 32 GB Ram. However that same link will show you 8 and 16 GB options for compatible Ram.
Here it is. http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-PC3-12800-BLS2KIT4G3D1609DS1S00-BLS2CP4G3D1609DS1S00/dp/B006WAGGUK/ref=pd_bxgy_147_3?ie=UTF8&refRID=0W04YFJWC37N5AHJ6RTF
Good advice. 1866 memory usually also has a xmp profile for 1600 setting as well.
Also, dig around the bios setup to see if you can turn channel interleaving off.
If that fails, do a CMOS reset. (either a reset jumper of pull the battery). Then try selecting the 1600 profile from xmp again.
The compatible memory list is only the list of memory that has been successfully tested. It's a list most people usually disregard with no issues.
But if you can't get the above to work, try with an endorsed pair of 1600 memory. If that fails you know you have a faulty motherboard that only runs on one channel.
there are so many models of ram they cannot possibly test them all
over 99% of new ram kits will work on the board
only issues iv seen is using ram over 1.55v on intel 115x builds, but thats when trying to use 4 dimms
2 dimms will work but cook the imc on the cpu and it will no longer be able to run 4 dimms
How would I do that if I can't even see what's on the screen
