we want a democratic approach (like greenlight) toward if we should have movies or not but when it comes to what games we want to see the board of directors should just hire someone for us.
You don't get it Tux. They say they want a democratic approach like greenlight but we know from greenlight trhat they'll it's broken because movies they do't like or aren't interested in get on.
As said. It is very easy to ignore the fact that there are movies on steam if one wishes. I literally had no clue they were a thing until I saw threads like this.
I am pointing out that the so called 'community;' is taking the EXACT opposite position with movies as they are with games.
movies = we should vote if movies should be shown or not
games = Gabe Newel should hire a team to filter games for us
It's not so much opposite but mirroring the evolution. What do you trink the community was clamouring for before greenlight rolled out?
We should bea bale to decide what games get on steam.
Fast forward and now it/.s Gabe should decide.

People like democracy when they believe that the majority are like them and of their opinions. They then turn against it when they realize that they are in fact the minority. I mean heck it's the greatest Irony of US history that before the revolution they vehemently rjected parlimentary representation. I.e they did want it because they knew they'd be out voted.
you are laying out an evolution of how things happened.
you are NOT illustrating how the two separate examples I illustrated are not exact opposites of each other
Look at it in terms of static states and yes they are opposites. See it as a continuum you see the same pattern. In short, if they did do a grenlight typoe thing with movies. I would bet money that in a few months to a year you'll see post bthat Greenlight Films is broken because crappy movies are getting through and valve should enforce QC.
It's not so much that they're oppisites more like one had a headstart over the other in time.
struggling a bit there with compartmentalize subject matters?
IS vs HOW?
See it this way. The diefference between a ball in the air and a ball on the ground. Is a few seconds.
They're asking for a greenlight for Movies much in the same way they asked for a greenlight for games. And we;ve seen that now with greenlight for games that they want other people in chatrge of picking the games since games they don't like or want are getting through
So applied to movies we're at the state where the community is asking for a voting style greenlight. Given that we're speaking of the same steam community. Is there any reason not to expect that a few months to a year later they'd be asking for someone else to pick the movies because movies they don't want or like keep getting on to steam?
actually what you are saying is exactly what I am saying
Well Think of how Amazon started. With Books. Now I can by car parts on it.
Steam Support is a good point, but if Valve put movies and broadcasting up, in the future this will be Netflix, Twitch, Game shop and forums combined
