2 computers + external HDD + internet for only one computer [SOLVED]
So where I am at, I have to have my computer registered in order to use the internet, and I only get to register one computer. I have two computers, and of course the one capable of running games I can't connect to the internet. Does anyone have a workaround as to how I can get Steam and games to work on the computer with no internet?

SOLUTION: In order to use my games and Steam on another computer, I signed in online to Steam, updated, downloaded my games, and copied the ENTIRE "Steam" folder in C:\Program Files (x86). I uploaded it all to my computer, and now I am able to play games offline because all of the installation files, verification files, etc. were copied over. I hope this helps anyone with a similar issue!

Get a NAT/PAT router and connect both PCs to the Internet.

Register the 'router' as the Internet connected device.

That or get your own Internet, such as 4G LTE or ADSL.

my real question is how does it need to be registered? 90% of computers can connect to wifi normally. Depending on your imternet provider either your internet is just awful. or thats a real issue
By MAC address usually.
Use the MAC ADDR of the router.

Tabris, am I just out of luck if that isn't an option?

Why not register the one with games instead?

Can you set up a network bridge to allow your offline PC access?

I just built the gaming computer, and I don't have ethernet access on my laptop. I was just hoping there was a way I could transfer games via HDD. But my understanding as of now is Steam has you go online with the Steam client to verify the authenticity of the game, which is really inconvenient for me, but I understand why they would do that for copyright/pirating purposes.

it only needs to go online one time after that offline mode works fine.

Maybe I could tether my computer to my phone and get online like that?

yes but than you still need to download the game(if needed) and start it before going ofline mode.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I can download it on one computer and transfer the game files to the other computer, right? If I am using the same Steam account, it would just verify my game is linked to the account and I can go offline.

yes but there is usually some downloading anyway.

Alright, I'll give it a run and post how things worked out.
