How long am I going to have to look at that "You do not have a phone number associated with this account". I tried entering my home phone number but it's asking for SMS code. I don't have a cell phone so am I going to have to look at that banner from now to eternity?

I have a phone through Boost mobile, eventually I got the to many attempts message on steam side.

never got the page to add in the security code to validate my phone

but I did get all the verification codes that were sent.

Definitely bugged.

once they fix the page where you can input the verification code it should work... right? That is the plan I guess.

ah, I just got a steam code sent to me, It came from the same number microsoft sends account resets from " [phone] ".,

Ewww, now im envisioning some outsourced Malware hatchery in [dodgy call center country]
having access to my personal details,,,,FFW.

So now a faceless, nameless unaccountable outsourced group of low paid workers have the ability to comprimise both my Steam and Xbox live accounts at the same time,,,,,,, well thats just great. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: google, yahoo and others also use this service for account sms verifications/resets.

Steam just screwed up again with the latest update. Same problem with phone number as you all. Thanks Steam, also stuck in the update/restart loop and recovery from that lost me many saves within games.

1. "next"-button just works when I type the number incorrect ( +XY0.....)
2. it says invalid number anyway, but I get a code
3. that's it - can't enter the varification code somewhere
4. now it says "to many attempts ..."

They fixed it. Now you can enter the SMS code.

Confirmed: for +61 numbers it now works.

Still want to know who controls the [phone] number the code come from though.
It's certainly not steam and they [like MS, google, blizzard] failed to disclose a third party was handling the service when i added my number.

Steam Mobile Authentication Removal Problems.

Yesterday, I dropped my phone and destroyed the touchscreen, so I can't get into my phone (it has a passcode.) When trying to go on a website like OPSkins or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, I have to sign into my account using the Steam Guard Mobile Authentication code. Since I can't get the code, I have no way to get into the account.

I've tried to remove that form of authentication by switching to email confirmation codes, but I forgot my recovery code so I have no way of authorizing that I'm the owner of the account.

Can someone try to help? I need to fix this issue as soon as possible.
