AVG Problem
I logged into Steam this morning, and AVG popped up and wanted me to "get rid of a threat". It deleted some stuff, and now Steam won't open for me. I click the shortcut and all I get is "The item "steam.exe" that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly." When I go to reinstall steam, an error pops up saying "Error opening file for writing" for C:/Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe

I tried opening a Steam game by clicking its shortcut, and that didn't work. I did some googling today, and I haven't been able to figure out how to fix this yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a ton!

Step 1 would be to either ditch AVG (it is notorious for this crap) or exclude the entirety of the Steam folder.

Step 2 would be to reinstall Steam.

There's the easy way, download install.
There's the complicated way. Download, open the installer in something like 7zip, and extract Steam.exe to it's old location and run that.

Install Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free and good.
