why can't I save steam styles?
I would really like to have my steam notifications apear in the top right of the screen but everytime i edit the steam.txt files to be "TopRight" and make them read only, they some how keep getting changed back to "BottomRight". Sometime if I do it while steam is open it will work for that session but it will get reset every time I relaunch steam. Why do they files keep getting changed even when they are being set as read only? Has anyone else been able to make some skin tweaks like this? how can I make them not get edited or overwritten?

Make a folder under Steam\skins\

Then make these folders under it:
\resources\styles\

Copy your modified steam.styles -file there.

i.e.
Steam\skins\Test\resources\styles\steam.styles

Then initiate the 'skin' from [Steam > Settings > Interface]

When I go to interface the only option in the dropdown menu is <default skin>

Then something is wrong with the path.

Create a name of the skin in the skins folder then drop the styles file in the skins folder.

Skins/skin name folder/styles.

Edit, or what teutep just posted, add the other folders if needed.

Odd, I just tested it myself and I got my 'Testing' folder as visible.

I'm on Windows 7 x64 with Steam Client Beta (Oct. 1st, 2015 build) for reference.

Actually, I know what the problem is.

It's resource

Not resources.

I'm stupid.

lmao wow steam real picky about its path. idek know i needed those additional folders so thanks hopefully now it won't overwrite them. since we're on skinds any custom skins or tweaks that are worth trying or checking out? the default one is already pretty nice

I personally use PixelVision 2.

Then there's Metro for Steam; Pressure; Compact Steam UI and some others.

I always like metro stuff, I'll check out all those. mainly just wanted that top right notification for that ps3 trophy experience I'm accustomed to. thanks for the help
