TCP and UDP, blocked ports
I use my college network which I believe has blocked the UDP ports. I could connect to Steam only via VPN, which again, was not able to use a UDP connection type, but only TCP.
Today I've read steam forums and found out this solution to be able to connect to Steam without using a VPN:
Right mouse click the Steam shortcut on your desktop -> Properties -> Target Change "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -tcp Try to run through the shortcut; forcing Steam to use the TCP port protocol instead of the UDP.

However, the steam servers in game info are still not responding. I want to play Left4Dead2 but the gameinfo won't work and it won't connect to any server. My question is: is there any way to force TCP for this as well? I'm sorry if this sounds dumb, I'm quite bad at this sorta things. I want to know if there's any way to connect to servers without using a VPN, which I've been doing until now but it's a total pain and struggle. (I'd appreciate if you could also recommend me any stable vpn in case there's no other way). Thank you.

Edit: when I'm trying to connect to a L4D2 server it says Sending UDP connect to public IP.... but it won't ever connect, which again, makes me believe that UDP is blocked by my connection.

Cause they just think that it's somehow better for games, cause "games" will run better or faster... it's sad, but who cares cause most of the games are crap anyways.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
