Purchase Icon on Non-Steam Game shortcut?
As the title suggests I'm getting an icon of "Purchase" instead of "Play" on non-steam games. Witcher 3 I have through GoG but I like to be able to quickly chat with friends through steam so I added it as a non-steam game for ease of use. Well, after playing for weeks on end I go to play it again yesterday and its asking me to purchase it... I don't know why.

Now, I'd be able to understand if it recognized the game as something on steam and they are trying to prevent some kind of piracy, but this is happening with Star Wars The Old Republic as well which is 1. A free to play game (subbed to it to boot). and 2. Not on steam in any way. Not even a game that was removed from the library but one that never touched it.

Anyone know what's going on or having the same issues?

you do not own the game on steam thats why you see purchase.
start the game from the library not the shop.

I added it as a non-steam game. This problem only started occuring this week. I've had these games on non-steam shortcuts for months now. Something changed and it wasn't my settings.

maybe they got deleted somehow just add the shortcuts again.

I did. Same thing occured after I'd played the game again, closed, and tried to come back to it later. Its really weird.

Decided to try and make this easy. This is what I'm seeing. It happens every time I play the game and shut it down. I know its easy to make a short cut. That isn't the issue. I want to know WHY its doing this and if I can stop it.

looks just like something steam updated to.
easy to ignore.

Just tried adding my GoG copy of Master of Orion 2 to Steam and I'm not seeing this bug, If you're using the beta client then try opting out of it.

Thanks. I opted out of the beta and it seemed to bring it back to normal.

yes I get a play/purchase button too if I am in the steam beta and add media player classic.
