Microphone problems

Before, my microphone worked fine, but recenty, when I try to chat with friends, I sound like some killer robot monster. Has anyone else experienced this> And if so, is there any way to fix it?

i Know what the problem is! but i dont know how to fix it ...
if you go to Steam>> Settings>>Voice , upper there is standing: Recording (audio input) device and under this is your Microphone. at me it is the Microphone (Conexant SmartAudio H
normal there must stand Microphone (Conexant SmartAudio HD)
that mean Steam is not Writing this corectly and it cant connect with the software...
i've Updated driver software and (win+x>>Device Manager>>Audio-,Video- and Gamecontroller>>[Microphone name]>>Driver>>Update Driver>>Search Online) now i cant hear anything. I'm Waiting for a Steam Update...

Ive had the same problem for a couple months :(
At least its not just me i suppose....
My mic works fine in anything else but steam.

Same here. I've tried everything with no luck.

I am having issues as well....I sound like a retarded satan with a super deep slow voice. My microphon works outside of steam fine.....

Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Sound / Recording / Properties / Advanced / Disable Audio Enhancements
