You do not have a phone number associated with this account
Steam relentlessly asks for my phone number, and I don't wish to give it to them. if i do give it to them will i have to use mobile authenticator and will i get a 7 day market ban?

you will not be harmed if you do not add the phone number, is optional.

It is completely optional at the moment. (And currently it doesnt work anyways). So no you will not get a market ban only by not adding your number. I am not quite sure if the phone counts as new device as you cant do transactions anyways with the Steam app.

If add, you dont will get a trade ban, it is no considered a "new device", its just a security method.
