You can also use Shadow Play if you have a Nvidia card, that comes included with the GFE app.
OBS is free and fairly simple to use too.

Nope you just use embedded youtube links.
I'm a bit confused though because if thats the case what are all those videos in the Community Hub about. It implies you can upload them directly to it.
No, you just link your youtube account then you can choose what videos to share to Steam. As for videos in guides, you just use embedded links like this:

I've tested Shadow Play and it seems to be working as expected. So its just a case of working out how to get the results onto Steam.
