Steam suddenly has issues with firewall
About a week ago Steam started giving me 'NO CONNECTION' even though as far as I can tell my internet is fine. I did some troubleshooting steps, including bypassing our router to make sure it wasn't the issue and even deleting everything except the '/steamapps' folder and letting Steam verify all its files.

Finally I tried starting Steam with my security programs disabled and suddenly it works fine, and even continues to work after I turn the security back on, but less than a day later it goes back to 'no connection' until I relaunch it without security.

I run Webroot along with Windows firewall, and I've made sure the Steam executables listed in the troubleshooting section are allowed through both but still the connection issue persists. Anyone have any idea what's happening and/or what I can try to fix it?

Most likely, the problem lies solely with Webroot. It's just not a good AV, and its free version is even worse. It tends to find problems that can only be solved by buying the paid version - problems that exist solely because of it.

I have the paid version, and from my research it's one of the better options for AV. I did confirm that the issue happens when I only have Windows firewall on, as well as only Webroot. Something just seems to dislike firewalls.
