**I am not at all requesting the ability to use longer passwords.**
I never asked that they "accommodate" anything.
I only ask they they fix the problem.
Most websites will tell you if the password you want to create an account with, is invalid.
Steam doesn't.
Creating an invalid password and not knowing it, is not only a waste of time, but it creates "customer support tickets" to resolve the problem or worse, people assume Steam's password system is broken and give up.
.
I am asking that they tell you on the Sign Up page that there is a limit on the length, which is 64. A bonus would be to not accept passwords longer than 64 and say "Password exceeds limit of 64". Nowhere on the Steam signup page does it mention the limit is 64, I had to look on a Reddit post to find the number 64. That is the problem.
Go ahead, make a new steam account with a password with 99 characters, it will let you and log you in, then log out and TRY log back in. You can't "password is incorrect". You can SUCCESSFULLY create an account with an INVALID password and be told everything is perfect. I don't know how else to explain it any clearer, give it a try.
Imagine you go to McDonalds, you place an order at the cashier, you pay. A few minutes later they call you over to pick it up, but when you get there they are standing there empty handed with a smile, so you say "that's my number but where is my food?" and they say "you did something wrong" and leave it at that. You can't fix the ordering problem, if they don't tell you what the problem is. So all I am asking, is they tell you you can't go over 64, because they do not. A bonus, as I said, would be to give you an error if the password is over 64.
Have to say Valve isn't the only one that lacks details of password requirements, allows passwords that exceed limits or give generic errors. Had exactly the same with another site years ago. Sign up and used a password manage to create and store a 32 digit password. Never login again and had to reset the password. Create a new one and same happen. Over the next 6? months I had to reset password everytime. Even spent time with the sites support staff. Eventualy I, not they, discovered they had a max of 8 characters.
Try posting this in the suggestions section something simple like the below.
Can we get the password requirements shown next to the new password field as this would help reduce errors when creating accounts or changing passwords. Specifically the max length and any symbols not allow.
I also found out they truncate the password when you create the account (to 64), but do not truncate it when you enter it to login. So, if you delete everything after the 64th character, it works.

This one is harmless until they fix it, because the number of people getting to set up a password above 64 characters for something that has no bruteforce function should be slim.
My favorite was something that allowed you to choose normal passwords, and let you login with it. But it actually just used around 8 of them.
Poor souls who have an easy start of a complicated password.
No it isn't. I summed up what you want in 2 sentences. Faster than it takes to make a small video, let alone upload and link it. And faster than it'll take to watch your video.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Like a sentence or 2 it's Short and simple and will grab attention quicker than having a video.
And more importantly posting this here will get you 0 attention from Valve staff. They don't read this forum hence why I suggested you post in the suggestions and ideas forum. Sorry not creating a video to detail why.
