Games not working since BIOS Update
Hi. I recently bought a new laptop and re-installed a few Steam games. At first they were working fine, WIndows updated and it still seemed to be working fine but then the BIOS updated and now I can't seem to run any programs. I have done everything suggested on the 'games won't run beyond preparing to launch phase' - checked integrity of files, de-activated my anti-virus software, no other programs are running, I hard re-booted my computer and tried to start the games and still nothing. I have tried with a few games - Civilization V, Civilization VI, and Planet Zoo. I am using WIndows 10 software and the laptop is more advanced than my previous one and the games were running prior to BIOS update so I am pretty sure it is not another systems issue. Can anyone advise how to overcome this issue?

You forgot windows core is update. ( BIOS update is Brand hardware devs that fix issue )
rest is Drivers and OS and then game Devs. you probably know that. but Blaim BIOS as culprint is so rare and require proof.

its not that we dont understand you its same then people blaim steam for update ruin game there are not devs for.

whats you need to do is start each own game .exe in each game steam install folder ( not the shortcut or steam button in the client , they suppress the error msg, cant say it work everytime
even game devs can make a gamlauncher that do it so game own .exe name can be change
well now you get it. ( here i hope you get the why did app crash popup, )

steam moderator should maybe contact own steam devs because game with no crash log, is not a good thing if steam can dump log , that will be nice, but thats is steam problem for hide crash popup.

there is old windows event log why a app crash
just because i suspect a thirdpart app issue, that game need

dont forget tool section with steamworks redistributed files ( relaunch it )
try see if that will fix it ( this could be a steam issue with that new ways steam handle it )
or this is another MS screw up, well MS visual studio files that change , so our game devs run into trouble, because they did once work. ( contact steam support, ) let them deal with this with MS. ( either steam use outdate files or MS made mistake or update cause grief to all our games.

ps.
just because i figure something out with another game devs own game and help them
it clear to me that they did not know the cause and was part of the change. VC++ issue
in my game. this is steam issue with some games with MS studio
problem is then you know better and hunt down own corrupted game files ( and addware was blaimed on doing it for 5 years old games, i dont buy that old Solutions, i have no doubt that might be true in the past,

and it seem to get more people with this issue. so please contact steam support. feel free to post this to them, i solve my own issue , problem is rest of the world.

well gl with it.

Solution is VC++ 2015 2017 2019 from DL ms page ( but that dont mean its that only ) you could have another VC issue plenty of them. ( dont forget tool section with steamworks redistributed files ( relaunch it )

its here this is complicate steam issue or MS ?

and no i did not use steam relaunch it , its still new , but was installed so again hard to say if reclick it will fix it.

my old game was Homeworld Remaster Collection ( new game devs launcher and it was remsate 1 and old none 1 and 2 did not work ) only remaster homeworld2 did work as i recall it
if this can help other.

and other old games with same vc++ did not work either.

Thanks, reinstalling VC seems to help after a Windows update.
