The invitation notification is not a normal chat message. And it doesn't tell you it is from a friend.
You probably fell for a phishing link.
This is how the invite looks...

Was this message given to you in a direct chat message?
Deadlock closed beta invites don't appear in chat as a message in italics...
You'll get the invite notification to your Email address or as a notification in Steam itself.
There are no messages in chat when a deadlock invite is sent.
(I know this because I sent an invite to a friend very recently.)
It sounds like you're not being sent a legitimate invite. Be cautious about any URLs in chat.
Many threads on the Deadlock game discussions exist for sharing invites with others:

The redirect to the store page is Steam telling you: "get the game first, lmao".
