Validate cache should work too.
Uninstalling one of the bad games, erasing the leftover files and then reinstalling should work too.
Beyond that maybe its some known issue with the patch. Check the game's posts/news/website/forum/chatroom.
150gb full install, will only maker it worse that 450gb if we use old way multiplyed by 3 to 5 if you need such explanations.
Thats mean a 500gb SSD is outdate with OS on it and we are over in 1TB boot disk atleast.
You need to have read alot about BG3 issue so many have explan it , even game devs own support page on game requirements, ((( "have way more space then needed." )))
So 100gb is not enough. make more free room then.
this is game devs own fault they need plenty of temporary work space, and they dont explan it well enough.
Steam will move the original files to a cache area, then it will make patched copies of those files into a temporary area, then it will verify all of those new files, then move the verified files to the install folder, then delete the old files.
That's why it's complaining about not enough space. It's not simply grabbing 8gb of new data. It has to distribute that data among the already installed files and it needs space to do that, usually at least as equal the game's install size.
It's hard for me to parse what you're saying, but I'll just note that my system is 2 drives, C and D, Steam is installed on C, which is 250gigs with half of that free. The game files are on Drive D, which is 1tb, and has 100+ gigs free as well. Even if I needed 3 or 5 times the space of the patch to install, it should still work.
Actually I hadn't known about that fix. Running it now. We'll see if it works. Thanks. Here's hoping I don't have to do a full clean install.
Yikes, if that's the case that feels like a 90's-era install issue, where whenever you filled up more than half your drive, everything got slow and choppy. One would imagine we'd have better systems now. So you think that I'd need at least as much free space as the game plus patch itself to run? I wonder why this is the first time this has come up. I've been running around this level of free space (sometimes less) and this is the first patch that this has happened on.
You need a minimum of 300gb of free space irrespective of the patch size.
Personally i leave x3 of free space on each drive based on the largest game installed. I never have issues with patching.
Honestly, it's probably a decent idea to just buy a bigger/another data drive.
yeah, but wait and see, its almost daily a new user get this lack of free space.
