brother can't join our steam family?
So I recently finally created a steam family for me and my 2 brothers (younger brother and I live at home, our older brother doesn't, but still lives in the same town) and inviting my younger brother worked no problem but my older brother gets told that his steam history indicates that he doesn't share our household. which, true, but he's still family, and lives like 10 minutes away? Any way to get around this?

Yes, there is a workaround.
Let your older brother log into your PC with their Steam account and start any game for like 1-2 minutes.
Then switch over to your own account and send him the invite which now will work because to Steam your brothers last login/play session location will now show as your house.
After that it does not matter anymore where he is, its just the joining a family that is this annoying.

Store-region matching may require a recent purchase on your or his account. Frequent current issue with the new setup, but poorly reported back on, so "may" is all I/we have for now...

I run two Steam Families (different accounts) and i have like 4 member accounts who live like 300+ km away from me. And they have been in my Families since March when the BETA started.
Nothing happened so far so....

you need citation for common sense? break the rules > live with the consequence?

edit: just because they haven't enforced it YET does not mean they will never..

Considering the amount of backlash that its getting on the official Steam family sharing group forum they may change the rules.

I remember there was an earlier reply from you to Ogami that said you were "trying this right now" but which you seem to have now deleted. As mentioned -- feedback on suggested fixes has for some reason been really poor as to this issue.

Did Ogami's suggestion work? If not, did you try the store-region / recent purchase thing that I added?

Sorry for the late reply, but yes, Ogami's suggestion worked :)
We should already be in the same store-region since we both live in the same town, so I can't say if it still would have worked if we actually lived further apart.
Thanks for checking in to make sure I got it all figured out tho <3

Thanks for reporting. Actually sort of disappointing that then in a sense the old "log in on the same system" thing from the old sharing system isn't all that gone in practice.

But good that you have it sorted :)

Well, what do you expect when people abuse more lenient restrictions?
