Hashtags and labels everywhere

After my steam acted up and wouldn't open until I restarted my machine a few times; now I see hashtags. I see #menu_store, #bottombar_addgame, and it only gets worse the deeper into the options you go. Steam still works, it's just very off-putting and frustrating. I don't see how fast my downloads are or how large, I just see a placeholder label where the number of bytes or gigs should be. It's now day two, and many many restarts later. Please Help!
