At the very least, make sure you've installed the latest GPU driver.
If you're already running the latest version, consider rolling back to a previous version.
If that doesn't resolve it, I'd be looking into motherboard chipset drivers, and as a last resort, upgrading the bios.
It could be that the GPU or CPU is overheating, but if it's only happening when you bring up the overlay, that seems unlikely.
I just updated the GPU drivers today, but it happened after that aswell (2 times on the previous gpu driver). I have never experienced this before and my PC is only like 9 months old.
So if this keeps happening you would recommend me updating motherboard and BIOS?
just because you bought pc same day still dont explan factory BIOS and chipset driver is update, normaly there is app that do this todayfrom brand software, but what if you have not install this.
And you dont explan onboard IGPU and maybe have Main primary card also,
and you dont mention turn off gpu accelration in steam setting , this just tell all helper here you have not research the GPU issue at all.
you post even fewer lines then OP, and even OP dont tell PC Spec, maybe noone here should help you, then pc steam user are so bad here. ( Maybe go back to consol gameing, it look like such user from here, there is no info at all from your post.
hey try game support, we are steam usre here we cant help with no intel at all.
Steam might want to make, Forced read a this guide before you post. and ask with quiz before you are allowed to post.
ps.
also send a msg her eyou have actual never been in conatct with game devs they want msinfo32 and dxdiag, ( this means you actual have no clue at all how little you said here and know in how to try fix things..
why bother with this so steam user stop write spam , with ( it dont work and now what.) we are not support here we are steam user just like you.
If you have any game issue contact game support, they have support, maybe this can teach you to do better.
i can't be the only steam user that think post like this should be stopped or better info then this, it almost look like a spam post.
Go try a game support and read msinfo32 do and dxdiag, then i bet you will learn all the holæd back infomation fast. ( also try real game support, they will not accept wods about a issue, might be a good leason in what real support do.
Why bother with this, well so steam user stop doing this, post crap, atleast OP try but its words, thats already said its self when it dont work
You also have steam suppoort.
If you dont know the diffrence in work with other steam game overlay, then you dont know each game can in properties can delete own per game overlay and see if that help.
This just tell all here how many things it requird you to know, and yet we are not support here.
You sound like support. I'm gonna hit you up next time I have a problem.
I figured out that it was Discord overlay that managed to freeze my cs at some points when I was opening steam overlay ingame.
do u have discord open when its happening? my game froze often because of "discord legacy overlay"
I think the problem is caused by the new updates of steam or nvidia updates because I have not had any problems for 5 months
