Missing Desktop Icons
I had to get my PC repaired and in the repair process I had to have my C: drive replaced. Since then all my game icons show as default windows file icons. The games still run and everything works fine but not having icons is kind of a bummer.

Neither of these worked unfortunately.
Win 10 or Win 11?
Check C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam\games and determine the number of icon (.ico) files there. Is the number of files about the same as that of the installed games/desktop shortcuts?

Just click on the void space on the desktop (On your wallpaper). Press CTRL+F5. If it's a laptop or your Fkeys are otherwise remapped you might need to use Fn+CTRL+F5.

Your icon cache for steam might be completely gone. If that's the case just delete the shortcuts, right click on the games in steam and click "add desktop shortcut" which will re-add the icon cache for the given game.

I've tried all the fixes I've seen online and the only thing that seems to work is reinstalling my games. I was hoping there was a fix that wouldn't require me to spend several days reinstalling everything.
