Hdmi laptop to tv
I'm new, if I connect my laptop to the TV with hdmi cable, can I play any game on steam if obviously compatible with Xbox controller? Or do I have to just stick with the remote play games?

you can even play with keyboard and mouse. The TV will be recognized as a second display like any other PC monitor.

Your refresh rate might be limited to 60 or 120 Hz however.

Thanks for reply, so when a game says it's remote play, that doesn't matter cause Im connected by hdmi, therefore able to play any game.
I'm just making sure as I don't want to spend £50 & not be able to play it

connecting your TV like that is not remote play. Your laptop would still execute and render these games.
Here's a list of instructions for Sony TVs for example: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/articles/00013185

should be very similar on other TVs.
tv is a bad monitor for gaming. usually they have high input lag - some offer gaming or pc mode but still lacking.

You can connect the laptop to the tv. You need to etiher mirror or make the tv the primary display as games generlly only play on what is the 'primary' display

for controller, you'd have to ensure your controller is paired to your laptop.
