400$ GLOVES GONE someone please break down whats happened with this trade?
I've sent my friend a trade request at 6:22 PM Australian time on Sunday the 8th of September, i confirmed the trade offer on my phone but when he went to accept the trade on his phone it said the trade was unavailable as soon as he viewed the trade. now it will not show the trade and it looks like the item was lost, the item was "★ Hand Wraps | CAUTION!"

A bot might have used the API system to hijack/redirect the trade, might be good to take a moment to secure your account and make sure you don't have any API keys active.

whats an API key and how would i know if it is active?
sorry it happened, partner

1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a trusted/clean device.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

click the link on number 6

it should be empty

if it is, leave it that way. clear it if not

Follow these steps, OP. If your gloves were stolen, then it will at least secure your account to prevent future thefts.

While it's possible the trade is still processing server-side, when items go missing it's usually due to an API redirection or account hijacking.

You should be able to look at your trade history, and see where the gloves wound up. If they didn't go to your friend's account, but a different one, then it 100% was a bot hijacking the trade.

HOPE for a trade/server error and it's processing, but PREPARE for the worst just to be safe.

Sadly, Steam doesn't return lost or stolen items/skins.
