Floaty controls with a Ps5 controller
Whenever I use my Ps5 controller with my laptop over Bluetooth I notice the controls are very floaty. Like say if I'm moving the camera to the right then I stop the camera will keep moving right for an extra half a second.

It's like I'm playing a video game via streaming it and there's input lag. Anyone else get this with a Ps5 controller over Bluetooth?

Bluetooth latency. Some systems can handle it, others can't.
Check whether the same issues appear if you use it plugged in.

Plugged in is absolutely fine. But I'd like to use it via Bluetooth just for quality of life reasons. I don't understand how my Ps5 doesn't suffer this issue but my laptop which is a bit more powerful than my Ps5 cannot.

Then you need a different bluetooth adapter as the one included in your system is not up to the task.

You need a bluetooth adapter that can perform aptX LL. Any other adapter is too laggy to handle the PS5 Dualsense gamepad.

My current wifi card has bluetooth 5.3 would upgrading to 5.4 really be that much of an improvement?

Is this wifi/bluetooth card aptX LL compatible? If it isn't then that won't help you.

How can I check?

Tell me the make and model of your laptop or your wifi/bluetooth card. If you want to do it yourself, you will have to check it on the manufacturer's page and if the info is not there, have to research it on the component vendor's website.

There is a proprietary application that analyzes supported Bluetooth codecs on Windows 10 and 11 systems, but the price is not worth it for this use case.

However, since your PS5 gamepad lags when using it via Bluetooth on your laptop, it's most likely your internal bluetooth adapter does not support aptX LL.

If you decide to buy a bluetooth USB adapter that supports aptX LL, you'll need to disable the internal bluetooth functionality of your laptop. Consult your laptop's manual on how to do that and if that's not possible, you will have to do that via device manager.
