Mouse properties resetting
This affects my games which is why I came here for help.

The problem started when I was playing Elden Ring with controller. I would exit my mouse software because that helped there be less frame drops. Yes, that's actually a thing.

I no longer play it because I got all the achievements and finished the DLC.

The issue is this. My "pointer options" in "mouse properties" keeps resetting on its own. I want the slider for "select a pointer speed" right in the middle. But it keeps decreasing at random times.

I have switched from a steelseries mouse to a hyperx and now to a logitech. I've tried uninstalling all third party software for peripherals. And at a random time, the pointer speed resets to a slower value again.

I can tell when it happens because of the speed difference. Sometimes I am on League or others I am just browsing firefox.

Fixes I have tried include reinstalling mouse drivers. Running device diagnostic. Ran sfc scannow. Reset PC.

My setup is the following:

Msi Mpg X570 Gaming Edge WIFI motherboard

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 12-Thread 3.6GHz

Msi GeForce RTX™ 2070 Super Ventus

Team T-Force Delta 3200MHz DDR4 16GB RAM

EVGA SuperNova 1000W G5 Gold PSU

Intel 660p 2TB NVMe SSD

Samsung 860 PRO 2TB SATA III SSD

So yeah all I want is for pointer options in mouse properties to stay at the medium value for pointer speed. Instead of resetting on it's own to a lower speed.

That would have been fantastic advice before this happened.

However, it is resetting to a different value on its own and I need to figure out how to stop that.

stop it. it's monitoring you mouse. windows is doing what it's supposed to do. only it's not saving your setting because it's buggy

it's the explorer and profile and users issues. Mainly comes from people who backwards engineer windows on apple devices and etc like don't bother listening to the driver or controls panel in windows. seriously.

don't use the settings.

seriously leave them alone and just use the device switches or it's software to set mouse and pointer setting.

I know this because i had my PC stolen and found out the used it to backwards engineer the OS on various other non compliant devices.
