Support had to deal with thousands of tickets every day,
https://store.steampowered.com/stats/support/
and to expect them to type everything manually is too much.
Just know that every ticket you sent has been checked and replied to by a person behind the desk.
canned responses-yes
most large companies (or just companies) use them.
that does not mean it is not a person picking those responses
they use them to save on time and for consistency
premature closings-
i have yet to get a ticket closed without them telling me why
i have not always agreed, but it was explained.
steam support can only help on specific issues
billing and account, if i remember correctly
feedback and ideas and the like are shuttled to the boards
and usually they will say who you need to contact if it is not
as pscht asked, what is the trouble you are having?
many of the users here have experience in many areas of steam use
quite possible that someone here can help
certainly is an option
you could let us know what it is that is happening
without any personal info
and see if maybe we can help
Its always the same pattern.
OP: " I have a problem and Steam Support wont help me"
USERS: "That sucks, what is your problem? Maybe someone here can help"
OP: "Man, Steam Support is so unhelpful, i only get template answers. Useless."
USERS: "Yeah, that can happen if they cant help with your specific problem and select the closest template that fits. What was your problem again?"
OP: "Well, since NOBODY wants to help me, time to threaten legal consequences!"
USERS: "................"
I'm trying to resolve an old account merger issue. I provided proof of purchase history via email for the old account. Additionally, I uploaded an image from an email from Gabe in 2004 to verify my ownership of the email account associated with the old account. I offered to forward the entire email to Valve if needed.
I also uploaded a screenshot of the game purchases sent to my email via Steam to further illustrate the issue. While the games and purchase history match between the two accounts, the age discrepancy is the issue. One account is 20 years old, while the other is 16 years old.
Despite my calm demeanor, the support team seemed to misunderstand my issue. I explained my problem in detail, but received generic, automated responses. took me 48 hours to clarify I was not trouble shooting a gift card issue and I finally got a CSR rep almost addressed my concern, but ultimately closed the ticket. "Who wouldn't feel so frustrated.. I really tried my best not to be rude.. I don't think I was..
My procrastination is sooo bad.. I can pull the debt card receipts from 2004 to 2024 from e-mail archives =) I have actually cap out my e-mail storage limits a couple times now .. lol I even have old bank transactions transcripts from 2002-2024 for steam in my closet.. old bad habit due to parents lecturing.. lol save everything you might get a tax audit.. ( sorry if anything dont make any sense.. dyslexia is a ♥♥♥♥♥ even with ai grammarly correcting..
LOL yes you are right they cant now - but many many many many moons ago
This. Its flat out impossible to merge accounts on Steam. Never has been an option and Steam Support cant do it, even if they wanted.
At most you can regain access to an old lost account by providing ownership proof.
But thats it.
And thats why you are getting generic template answers, its a problem Support can not help with and is not possible on Steam in the first place.
I can find internet threads up to 2005 with users asking for this and getting denied.
So unless you have some definite proof this was ever possible i think you remember wrongly or confuse it with another service.
Nope. Account merging has never being possible as you are creating a single user account each time you make one.
Games purchased via Steam itself or activated by key are bound to that individual account.
