Installing games on same ssd as operating system
Is there any downside if games are installed on same disk as your os?

no, as long as you keep enough free space (10-15%)

Ok will do thanks for that.

Not really. I mean there is a performance hit but with SSD's the hit is negligible. Though be warned if you multitask a lot that hit becomes very noticeable.

Remember as fast as an SSD is it is still limited by this one fact. Data can only flow one way, and only one application can control it at a time.

Reading data means that data can't be written to the drive. Writing datameans data can't be read from the drive. The more apps tou have competing for drive access the greater the effect becomes.

From your RE post seems you are getting a new pc. While it is correct that there shouldn't too much of a performance hit, I would highly suggest getting a secondary ssd to put the games on if possible, that will be less load on the os drive, essentially what Start_Running stated.

So I'll be playing RE4 remake as well as using OBS to stream to Twitch on the new PC. So basically one game running with one app open in the background. The new PC only has one internal SSD. I also have an external Samsung T7 SSD but I don't think I wanna use it as well.

How big is your SSD and how good disciplined are you at uninstalling stuff you don't use anymore?

A single drive means everything gets installed to it which means the space gets used more quickly. Personally I found installing a second SSD specifically for games made life so much easier.
