Inquiry] I do not understand how to get Achievements in Offline Mode
I've been told several times that I could unlock Achievements in Steam games while I'm disconnected from the Internet, as when I would go back Online, it should give the ones I would've earned to my Account. However, several times I tried that out, it never worked, and this has been bothering me, I'd wish to fix this problem, that is if Steam even allows for it.

One my tests involved playing Dark Souls: Remastered in Offline; from a previous save, I had gotten the Rite of Kindling, beat the optional bosses Priscilla and Gwyndolin, entered three well-hidden Covenants, and reached Anor Londo, which required ringing both Bells. However, when I went back Online (and started the game), none of the Achievements I should've gotten had unlocked. Looking at my stats in the Link below, you can see I reached Anor Londo, but didn't rang both Bells, and that's because I simply talked to the winged demons a second time to get it, it wasn't automatic like people claim it would.

So, is my Steam busted or something, are there Settings stopping me from getting Achievements Offline, or am I being gaslit? Some people say it should work on the Deck for example, where you aren't always connected to the web. I like going for Achievements, but we don't always have the luxury of connection depending on the weather, and not a single time was I able to unlock something when the Internet was down, and in Dark Souls' case, what do I do now? I can't re-kill Gwyndolin and Priscilla until another playthrough, not all games are too kind to my predicament like that.

Depends if the developers have configured their game to detect achievements earned in-game which then get registered with the Steam API when the user connects online next.

The Steam API? Ok that's new, can you tell more? I kinda have an idea about APIs, but I would've assumed it should be working whenever I connect once in a while.

It's pretty much the framework that holds and displays data such as profile information. Some games that run offline record information such as achievement data which can be connected to the Steam API meaning when you connect to the game when online, the API data will update and those offline achievements will be visible on your profile.

Many games don't do this and for it to happen, the developers need to configure their game to collect any such offline data and then allow for it to be synced to the Steam API upon the next online connection to the game.

Thank you both, I have learned some more today. But so, is it possible my Cache or something is broken and I need to fix it?

Hotsauce's Link says "Such caches often come in conflict, and when they do it looks to users as if their progress has been reverted, which is a frustrating experience." As I've said, tried it with Dark Souls, but I also tested it on Duke Nukem: Forever and maybe some others, so while not all games may work like what you guys are describing, it's been consistent that it hasn't been working for me at all across various games. I do regular scans for errors on my PC, and while I do sometimes clear up junk data on my computer, I've never deleted anything when I was doing those tests, so nothing so far points out to it being an human error or a defect.

Bump, because I'm suspecting my Cache in question has been disfunctioning since the start. I did do fresh Reinstalls of Steam for unrelated problems, but it doesn't seem to have been effective.

Unless, of course, the only games that I did my Tests with just happened to be the only games that are impossible to unlock Achievements Offline, my Luck/Bad Luck usually gets in the way.
