Advice on wireless adapter please
Hi there - I just purchased an Xbox Elite Series 2 games controller for my PC. It turns out my PC doesn't have Bluetooth so I am looking to buy an Xbox Wireless Adapter - but I want to make sure I get the right one. Could anyone please guide me as to what adapter I should be getting that works with the Elite Series 2. Thank you

You could try asking on Microsoft's Xbox website and forums.
But I'm sure a few people here might know exactly what you're looking for and what problems to avoid.

Microsoft doesn't sell them anymore. Not as separate items anyway, you might get a package of a gamepad and a transceiver. While there's "compatible" aftermarket products, mind the quotation marks. You could, of course, go for a used one... Why not going with Bluetooth? Input latency over Bluetooth is a solved problem, I'm the kind of guy to consider 30 FPS borderline unplayable due to input lag (meaning I'm REALLY sensitive in that regard) and I don't have complaints playing over Bluetooth.

... except Steam doesn't display the battery gauge of my gamepad over BT. That's a lil' downer.

"why not go with bluetooth" is a good question - unfortunately it appears my computer doesn't have bluetooth - I had no idea until I tried to use it for the controller

The thing is, you can buy a BT dongle. You are about to buy a dongle anyway so you might just as well spend your time researching & money buying a BT one.

Any adapter using Xbox Wireless should be compatible with your controller (they're compatible with any Xbox One or later controller).
If you see something saying it doesn't support transferring audio to the controller then it's not using Xbox Wireless but Bluetooth.

I've used this third-party one with a Series S/X controller:
