someone else's steam account connected to my email address?

i'm honestly not sure about this, earlier i was trying to reset my password and when i entered my email i noticed 2 accounts instead of 1, the other of which doesn't belong to me. i don't have proof of this since i got kinda scared and changed my email address. i've gotten absolutely no emails in my mail box about this so i'm even more confused, any explanations?

how long have you had that email address? email providers will recycle addresses if they are not used for a certain length of time.

you may want to check to see if your email is compromised just to be safe.

i've had it for maybe 3-4 years? i also don't think i've been compromised, i checked.

Could very well have created a second account by mistake. We've run across many of users you have logged into a second account they didn't know they had just to post about how Steam stole all their games.

i didn't, the account was totally different from mine.
