T-mobile content blocking
Does anyone know how to stop T-mobile from blocking Steam on my hotspot? If I use a VPN it works but not directly.

And no the solution I am looking for is NOT to continue to use a VPN
I'm not sure why they would block it for since steam is legit.

Contact T-Mobile as only they can answer the question.

Companies usually do this to services that have massive gb downloads. Only they can assist you.

Login at ISP service portal and see if there is a customer portal where you can open for traffic.

Define "YOUR" hot spot? Is this your service, or are you attempting to tap into a location's system and use it for this?

I mean T-Mobile has done this deliberately most likely. So you can always call them and ask them to stop blocking it. I mean the reality is it's their service, they control a lot of it and there are things the end user can't override.

So while you may not like it as an answer, your solution is use a VPN it sounds like. Or switch services that are more lax in their throttling.

It's selective where I am and when I am blocked. Just out of curiosity, Steam isn't blocking me? Is it? I LITERALLY wake up everyday of the week in a different city. I would think a large carrier as T-mobile would be flat across the board on content restrictions. Speculation not accusations.

IP geolocation is notoriously unreliable. Basically, consider yourself lucky if it gets the country right.

I was hoping to solve the problem with some setting I don't know about on my phone.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an ISP for someone like me? I heard Unlimitedville provides good speed, but 2 attempts to emails about signing up later I gave up. I suppose that I could PAY for a VPN. I had used a free one for test purposes. On the other hand T-mobile's 5G falls short in alot of places I am.

Nearly all mobile providers block high bandwidth services like steam so that they don't get overwhelmed by it

Also T-mobile is not stupid. Just because you 'hide' it behind a VPN doesnt magically mean your bandwidth usage is going to go down (in fact the overhead of encapsulating the packets means you are usign MORE bandwidth to transfer the same data over a VPN). They're just going to shut down your connection to 128kbs once they see you're 'hiding' your high bandwidth usage behind a VPN

Note that even on Magenta MAX, the highest cost unlimiited tier, you only have 40GB of 5G tethering data before you get bumped down to 3G (on normal Magenta plants its only 5GB of tethering). If you are relying on your 5G to download/patch game data you will quickly eat through your existing 40GB limit (or 5 GB on normal Magenta)

I unfortunately have a mobile life. I have woken up in Buffalo NY, Hagerstown MD, Chicago IL, St Paul MN, Davenport IA, Indianapolis IN in the past week.

I am STILL within my allocated bandwidth for the month. I get 40gig on my hotspot. The month is almost over and I have used 19. And they are not throttling, they are BLOCKING. No connection made. I am not trying to cheat a system. I am trying to make a system that I am paying for work for me. I have no issues paying for another system that will work
