Is it normal for Steamwebhelper.exe to create processes with other names (its processes should be named "Steam Client Webhelper" right?)?
I've never seen it do this before (I keep task manager open in the back ground always btw), so should I be worried or fix something?
Thanks in advance for any help.
I dont know scan for maleware and virus maybe. ?
and all the other check pc free tool app.
lets see if they can catch whatever that is.
google steam flush maybe , do have login/pw rdy.
I don't have Steam auto start and running virus/malware checks was the first thing I did. Thanks for the suggestions though.
I emptied the temp folders already because I thought maybe the "The Boys are back" might have been the name of some community content/guide/post/etc that I clicked on during that day of play. I'll delete the web cache to though. Thanks for the suggestion.
Have either of you ever noticed the Steamwebhelper.exe naming its process something other than "Steam Client Webhelper"? If I knew that others sometimes noticed this on their machines I'd be less concerned, even if the cause remained a mystery.
Edit:
I guess this must be something new (but normal?). I currently have a process running called "Properties Borderlands 2" which was created by Steamwebhelper.exe. I am currently playing this game and all the naming and location data for the process is correct so I guess I'll stop worrying. =)
so yes i have seen other names just not that , and no i dont even recall what i did , i just fix it. most have been a specifik app i use that names actual make sense as buggy in steam sub attachment in task manager.
but again we all dont have same apps, so its not that simple to ID
you dont need any apps.. what you even on about.
a game is also a application.
same as a driver is also a piece of software.
just so you get it , OS is also a piece of software, a app a application,
people might not use same terms anymore , but it still is what it is.
After clearing the cache the Steam Clientwebhelper processes only run (in the background) after I have closed the Steam UI. This is how it use to be.
I'll keep an eye on it to see if Steamwebhelper.exe names any instances of itself anything other than "Steam Clientwebhelper".
Thanks for the help.
Edit:
After an hour of play the "Steam Clientwebhelper" processes are all (six of them) back to running while Steam is open (instead of in the background when Steam is closed). Not sure what conclusion to draw. Maybe this is the new normal?
...so far all process instances are named properly.
