Cant download Mount and Blade warband, Steam Update News glitched

Soooo I try to download mount and blade warband on its free week, every time i hit the play button, which opens the installation window, opens up the "Steam News Update". It is completley blank, and has a close button. If I close, it re-opens when I try to install m&b. I went into my program files(86x) for steam, and deleted all the files in my htmlcache except "Cookies" file, the 4 data files, and the index file. Any fixes for this issue?

yes but i got it 2 days ago and after playing it i opened my pc today the game is not listed and wont work it worked when i added it as a nonsteam game but i cant play online

It wasn't free to keep forever. The free weekend is over, so you don't have the game anymore. Buy the game and it will work properly.
