Virus warning upon starting steam!
On opening steam, bitdefender just gave me the message:

Bitdefender has detected an infected item in d:\steam\steamapps\downloading\26800\launcher.exe. Virus name: Gen:Variant.Swizzor.2. The file was disinfected for your protection. If you want to recover the original file, click the Recover button. Date: Monday, 14 July 2014 11:16:52 AM

Sounds more like a false positive.

same problem here... but detected by F-Secure.

Steam AppID# 26800 would be this game:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/26800/

Launcher.exe is part of that game's files. So it is the game files; not Steam Client files.

Regardless, I would have to say "false-positive"

Add Steam root folder to anti-virus suite exception listing.

And update your AV definitions and run a full scan to see if anything else infected. If you seeing files outside of Steam folder effective, it's quite possible the files for Steam or Games were effected due to virus elsewhere on your system affecting such files.

Thats bull just play steam ;)
Everytime I launch a game I need premision but if you just exit the premision box my game runs. Steam is fine I haven't encounted any virus.
