Trying to install Dishonored GOTY with no internet
Hey all,

I purchased Dishonored at my local game shop, thinking I can run the installation and play the game, oh how wrong I was...

Basically my net is down and I only have limited mobile data I can use. I have enabled my mobile data to add the game to my steam account etc... So I installed the first CD no problems, it then asks for the second CD. I placed it in and hit okay. The window closes and instead of installing the data from the second disk, it appears to be downloading the rest of the necessary files online (5 gigabytes worth...).

Is there anyway I can get it to install from the CD instead of the web? When I close my mobile internet connection down it just pauses the download, I can not see anywhere were I can direct the installation to the second disk.

Please help! Having no internet sucks and I bought this game hoping I can play it without having to download 5 gigabytes of data.

Thanks.

The Steam client has a feature to "download" from disk -- that should work if the game on the disk is actually "steamish" enough. I generally wouldn't recommend using installers provided on the disk for Steam games -- publishers like to do all sorts of their own crap to be "unique", and don't care about doing things properly.

However, disks are horribly outdated. There's usually a big update happening after installing from disk...

You can make a more current disk for yourself if you have another computer where you can download the game, then use the Backup/Restore feature of Steam to transfer it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'll just wait for my connection to be restored.
