[SOLVED] Steam friends and other profile pictures appear as gray squares or question marks
I don't know why this happened, before I was using the Steam beta client but I opted out of it and just recently, the pictures of my friends and the gamers that I play with are not loaded or shown in the games nor in my friends list, the Steam community profiles still work but not in-game or in the friends list, please help

The trace completed and I forgot to mention that by doing the ClientRegistry.blob renaming, I got gray squares completely and question marks now, but I re-used the old ClientRegistry since nothing else happened.

Ahahahaha well, internet is slow here (2mbps) and I can't or don't update most of them because some I don't play and others I just can't find the time to download because of things to do and playing the other games XD

:D:

maybe a file got deleted when you opted out? did you try opting in again to see if it works?

http://i.imgbox.com/AGsgYSRY.png < What program did you use to get your info displayed like that?

Yeah, I did try opting in again, I'll trying re-opting in and see if it works, and for the software I use to display my PC components is Speccy, great software, you can also get to know the temperature of your PC with that as included in the screenshot :)

After some recovery of deleted Steam files and re-installation, it seems that my Steam is now officially fixed :D

I'm sorry but I don't know how to fully help now T_T

All I remember is that when I tried to get back the deleted files from the recycle bin and did some searching in the other deleted files using a recovery program and by re-installing Steam, the profile pictures were shown again, but there's a high chance it's about the connection to Steam's servers for their pictures, I tried repeating this method over and over again and it may have been a factor for recovering the pictures :)

Well I already tried how to resetting the Client Registry, but I tried a few times, but AWW C'MON it doesn't work again D:
Is something wrong with Steam installation?

Steam uses separate content delivery networks for storage of static community images like badges, avatars and achievements. Sometimes this happens when the CDN experiences problems, but it can also happen if your ISP is having routing issues.

A tracert might help determine if the problem lies with your ISP.

If it won't complete, that indicates an ISP routing issue.
wat does this mean.?

Using the cmd program in Windows, you should type in "tracert cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com" and see if the process would complete, if not, then there is an ISP routing issue as he said (which honestly I don't understand)

And with the Steam installation, you can try uninstalling Steam but make sure to back up your games to not download them again and see if it works :)
