Flash Player Not Working
So I have the latest update for Steam and I also have the latest update for Flash Player (14.whatever it is now). All of these were updated today. Last night I was able to watch a video for a game and it is saying that I need to install the latest version of Flash Player. Don't know about anyone reading this but I see a problem with this picture.

Now problem is I was watching some stuff on Steam last night and it was fine. So this tells me the one of these two updates broke something. I have uninstalled Flash Player as that is the only one I have any control over and reverted back to version 13 for Flash and still no luck.

I am running Windows 8.1 (stop snickering in the back, oddly enough I kind of like it), with a system more than capable of running it so that is not the problem. I would welcome any help in regards to this because while I don't watch game trailers etc often I do like to watch them from time to time. Thanks.

Most users don't report anything, and the ones that whine about it not working and continue to whine about it don't try anything and just sit back waiting for a fix to be installed automatically for them.
Most users don't bother reporting or whining a problem once they see that it's already reported. Making assumptions that the problem only effects "whiners" just makes you look silly.

Flash is just fine, you won't get a virus from the Steam Store by installing the flash player. You get them by going to shady sites with out secure browsers.
However, if you do not have flash player or Java installed, going to shady sites will not result in getting a virus. The problem is flash player has too many holes and quite easy to exploit.

If it yourself, since it's been close to a month.
It's only been a few days, this problem started with the two patch ago (since the last patch was quickly put out to fix a bigger issue that same patch caused)

I thought I remembered seeing the posts first start appear right after the end of the Sumer Sale, beginning of this month.
I've tried "other browser" also, It didn't work. It still says that I need to install flash player.
Never had this problem untill the last two or three updates from steam.

Or, maybe it's not because steam or your flash player. Sometimes 'sneaky' advertising software installed on your PC and using flash player update/crash screen to gets more clicks. Maybe you should check your installed software and delete unrecognized software. This helps me to solve the same problem.

Most likely their problem was either a firewall or hardware issue.

Personally, I do not have flash installed (or Java). And videos stopped working 2 patches ago. But they work in "Big Picture" mode just fine. Which makes it a steam problem, not a user problem.

No, it's a steam problem.

Don't have flash installed. Able to view videos just fine up until 2 patches ago. However, can view video in Big Picture mode, just not in normal mode.
Earliest topic I could find was from a week ago. Starting roughly around the 11th.

Other topics have had users report that they couldn't get the quick browser install of "other versions" to work and they had to go to Flash and get a full version download and install to get it to work.

It's is a steam problem, you can play the videos in "big picture" mode but not in normal mode. Which makes it obviously a bug.

Which is also the same day a patch was release (2 patches ago).

The fact that videos play in "Big Picture" just fine, makes this a steam "bug" and it will get fix.

P.S. You can see the pictures just fine as long as your "auto play videos" is unchecked and you do not click on a video.

its always something. Disparaging it is to try and buy a game with no video to show you what you are buying.
