Glad to not be alone on this... when did it start for you? Hopefully we get an official response soon.

Yeah, tried these. Thanks, though. When I try to start it, I see a .crash file appear in the Steam x86 directory... what's that about?

I downloaded an update and haven't been able to connect since. Worked just fine yesterday.

Yes, same with me. I opted into Beta... then this. I tried the -clearbeta launch option, but no dice. Same exact problem...

I opened a support ticket, but they haven't gotten back to me yet...

OK, so I tried opting into the beta on another computer (as of 7.11.14 2:52PM PST) and it worked fine. Now I'm really confused...

I did get some Windows updates the night before this started. Did anyone else have a Windows update package install just before they had this issue, as well?

Sorry I can't offer any help. I ended up "upgrading" to Windows 8 for work. That "fixed" the problem for me. Not a real fix at all, I'm afraid...

I had a similar issue with Steam downloads not working correctly, both for updating the client and for downloading any games (games would just "queue" but never download). To fix it, I rolled back the driver on my wireless networking card. You might try this and see if it helps:

1. Go to your Device Manager (open Start menu, type Device Manager, should come up in program list).
2. Under "Network Adapters" find your primary network adapter (ex: Linksys WMP600N, D-Link Wireless, etc.). Right-click it and select "Properties".
3. Click the "Driver" tab at the top of the Properties window.
4. There are several options here, as well as information about your driver. If available, click "Roll Back Driver". Accept/Ignore any pop-up messages you may see.
5. Click "OK", then restart your computer.
6. Test Steam to see if it will update properly.
