UDK games...preparing to launch..............
All of the unreal engine games i've bought in the last three months, including XCOM EW, Dishonored, Spec Ops, and Master Reboot, do not launch. the preparing to launch window opens, then closes, and I'm logged into the games on Steam for a minute, and then I'm logged out and nothing has happened. It seems isolated to Unreal 3 games, and I have tried everything and more to make them work. Please dont suggest verifying the cache, or updating drivers. Is anyone else dealing with this?

Have you tried refreshing your Steam files?

tried drivers and all of that sort of stuff to upgrade. do udk games work outside of steam (if you have any such games) ?

yeah, thanks for the reply. i dont think so, but i havent had any trouble with gog or uplay or gamergate games so im not sure. and some things like civ 5 and the first xcom work fine. ive done everything i can find.

I'm having a similar problem with civ 5, ive tried everything it has said on the steam faq but nothing helps. When i try run the game through the file i get the 0xc0000005 error which apparently happens quite commonly when opening software. So i tried fixes for that error, the one thing i havent tried which causes it is that windows updates may have stopped it or something. i have absolutely not idea how to fix it, sorry.

thats okay, i can't imagine im the only on with this problem, which i think is steam+udk+ati, but i guess its sort of rare. like when i try to search for it in the most logical way i can think, something i posted is in the top ten or twenty results. i do think there are alot of people with broken games, preparing to launch or some other loading error, who just kind of throw up their hands. i've proably spent nine or ten hours over the last few months trying to fix this. or basically find someone who has the fix.
