VALVE charged me $400+ for no reason
Valve software charged my paypal account multiple times that I linked to steam more than $400. I never authorized this, someone hacked and stole my info. Paypal says that I should be refunded soon but my bank account is literally drained and I tried steam support, phone number, and email and no one has bothered to respond. BE CAREFUL BUYING STEAM GAMES WITH PAYPAL! If a moderator or admin reads this please help me.

Always be careful when telling an online service to remember payment information.
Do tell what Valve Support's phone number is. I'm sure everyone has been looking for that for at least a few years.

You might be being played further. I don't think there is a support email (that's not a no-reply one) or phone number just the ticket system. If you haven't already secured your computer you need to do so ASAP or you risk losing more.

^ Yah I contacted steam support this morning. They closed the ticket without responding, probably because I was raging a bit, that's my bad. Paypal said since Valve refunded me, it will just take a few days to process, I just hope its true.

The Valve phone number is 425-889-9642, of course its just a recording that I'm sure no one checks but get ready to lol at the voice acting.

I found it kind of stupid they offered an option to remember paypal information. Especially when it's checked by default!!

I got a callback from a Vavle employee! In all my years as a steam user it was the first time hearing from someone besides ticket support. She told me paypal got my info stolen, but paypal told me valve got my info stolen so apprently its NO ONES fault, and they both did the right thing despite losing my money for a few days...some facing saving BS. But I did get the refund from paypal, thank god. Horrible ordeal, watch your paypal/steam linking, and I did clean my computer and found a few temporary files and cookies but thats it. Those could have been the cause of the hacking/phishing but I really have no idea. Thanks for the help valve hotline!

Well I'll be. Someone CALLED YOU BACK? That's amaxing, and I'm not even being sarcastic here. I suppose $400 is a lot of money, though, so that may have something to do with it.

This wont be the case soon enough. New laws are being passed to make sure that boxes are not pre-ticked on websites and applications. Assuming you are in the EU anyways:

http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_MEMO-11-675_en.htm

"3) Banning pre-ticked boxes on websites

When shopping online – for instance buying a plane ticket – you may be offered additional options during the purchase process, such as travel insurance or car rental. These additional services may be offered through so-called ‘pre-ticked’ boxes. Consumers are currently often forced to untick those boxes if they do not want these extra services. With the new Directive, pre-ticked boxes will be banned across the European Union."

Pre ticked boxes for additional charges, not for saving your own info. Check the other thread you posted. The issue is with the way you are reading the info not the way steam operates.
