Disable Achievements

Other than offline more is there anyway to disable achievements without disabling other features of steam? I dont mine being able to shift tab to talk to a friend or look at something but Achievements are immersion breaking and frankly I dont care about them and would rather just turn them off.

turn off the ingame community.

right click game in steam and check the tabs.
they won't bother you ingame than.

But then I lose all option to hit shift tab and bring up that when the feature i dont want is the achievements.

There is no selective option for such things; turning off Steam In-Game Community Overlay is the only option available. Either Steam is tracking your gameplay as a whole, or it's not. If u need to connect with friends or browse the web while u game; ALT+TAB to access such things.

Sorry but it's really the only option atm.

Turning off community overlay doesn't turn off achievements. It just stops the popups from happening.

Well thanks for answering it guys, and to respond to your point that it is immersion breaking too, its not because I have control of it. When I would use the feature I would not be immersed in the game. When im doing stuff in the game and a pop up tells me i did something that breaks the immersion because at that point I am in the mindset of the game

you can disable those but if I want to be immersed I put my friends off line.

Daylight triggers their achievements only when you EXIT the game. Which is an iteresting way of ensuring immersion and giving you achievements.

Functionally the devs have control over this if you're talking about immersion

It's not like you're getting achievements every few seconds or so. I don't see the big deal. If a friend messages you while ingame, a notification will also pop up.

I spent all day yesterday installing, testing, and making sure mods for skyrim worked that add immersion and make it feel like a tundra that is both beautiful and unforgiving. They are a big deal to some players and to others they are not

This is a viable option for Skyrim. You can unlock the majority of the achievements in Skyrim through a console command. I was playing around with commands, and I accidentally unlocked all quest achievements.

And this is why achievements will never be linked to Steam level.

Which is a good thing, frankly. Achievements are something that we gamers should be enjoying on our own terms.

you can easily sign out of the friends list while keeping the overlay

not to mention there is a difference in accepting the possibility of a event that is of somewhat importance interupting you, you know, real human people trying to communicate with their friend, not some lame digital dog treat giving you a pat on the head because you were smart enough to even complete the obligatory training or walked X amount of meters in game.
