Linux can't add drive

I downloaded steam using dnf on fedora and when I try to add a disk, it says Folder contents can not be displayed
And if I run steam from the console, when I do this it prints
Couldn't write /.steam_exec_test.sh: Permission denied
Couldn't write /boot/.steam_exec_test.sh: Permission denied
Couldn't write /boot/efi/.steam_exec_test.sh: Permission denied

Should you not ask this is steam linux own grp. "Permission denied"

are your disks set to mount on startup?

if not, steam will not be able to read them until you access them

Steam client checks /proc/mounts for possible locations where it can create Steam libraries.[github.com]

The "permission denied" messages are harmless. You would expect /, /boot, and /boot/efi to not be writable by your non-root user. I also get them when I go to Steam settings > Storage > Add Drive:

Couldn't write /.steam_exec_test.sh: Permission denied
Couldn't write /boot/.steam_exec_test.sh: Permission denied
Couldn't write /boot/efi/.steam_exec_test.sh: Permission denied
Couldn't write /home/.steam_exec_test.sh: Permission denied

However, I can add paths under my home dir /home/$USER or any other mount points that my user can write to.

What disk are you trying to add?

I checked, the disk is not mounted
Steam chose the standard /home disk
But I can't change it to for example /home/Games/SteamLibrary

your best bet is going to be going to the fedora forums and ask there

i know with arch, debian and ubuntu i had to change the settings to mount at startup

i did not get that message when i tried and they were not, though

i tried fedora but switched before i even got to the steam installation

just was not enjoying my time on it

It's not a Fedora issue.

You prolly have a mount or rights issue.

Ignore those logs. Steam is poorly coded.
