Purchasing issues - Called the bank
Whenever I added funds or buy a game on steam, it always showed me an error that says, "Your purchase has not been completed. Your credit card information has been declined by your credit card company" after I type in my OTP correctly. I've done this several times over the course of a few days and it still kept failing. However, my card worked fine for any other online transaction, so I called my bank.

The agent told me that the bank has completely blocked this site due to it seeming "unsecure" and that it often gets reports of fraudulent transactions happening here. That was weird and I told her I made authentic transactions with this site multiple times, so I requested that they unblock it for me only.

My question still remains: Why has a bank blocked this site entirely for all its clients?

Assuming they weren't saying that for the sake of saying something - front line customer service agents generally don't have access to real info and are under pressure to end calls quickly - then it may be the case a lot of customers have reported fraudulent transactions through Steam.

This doesn't make Steam itself insecure or the source of the fraud, more likely people have had card details stolen elsewhere and used on the store.

Steam is only as secure as the people using it. Some people use Steam for decades and never have an issue, others get scammed once a week.

Valve have invested heavily in account security and anyone getting scammed on Steam in 2024 should only blame themselves.
