Donwload speed is low

So my internet is pretty fast. i have 87MB/s downoald and 111MB/s upload. Every time i try downloading any game my download speed peaks at 80-90 MB/s for a few seconds to a minute, but then it drops down to anywhere between 1-20MB/s and stays there. How can i fix this or what could cause this.

Btw all my drives are ssd's and they support these speeds.

That’s normal for steam and you can’t do much about it since it’s on their download servers end not yours

You can try switching which sever region your downloading from but it might end up being even slower

1) your cpu
2) your disk IO
3) your anti virus
4) your isp

Steam downloads in compressed chunks, once a chunk is down it gets decompressed and installed. If the CPU and/or drive is at or near 100% the DL will slow and may even stop until the decompress and install is complete.

Open Task manager and see what CPU and the Drives usage % is at when this happens

While i download games my cpu is at 30-40% and the drive where i download the game is anywhere from 40-100%.

As for the posobility of my pc being the casue is in my opinion not posbile im pretty sure my cpu is good enough and so are my ssd's. It cant be an anti virus since i dont have one and my isp is very good so it cant be that.

Your 'Pretty sure' could be wrong. Actually find out using want I suggested earlier
