Re-login required for gifting games

Hey there! I recently gifted a game to a friend but I was required to log in again before I could complete the purchase. I never had this issue before, so I thought it was due to me buying the game and gifting a copy at the same time. I experimented a bit and this seems to happen each time I gift a game, going to purchase the game for myself gives no issue. Already checked and there's no unaccounted for purchases on my account, and I was able to gift the same friend a game several weeks ago without this happening. If it matters, i'm not using any funds in my Steam Wallet. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?

There are a couple threads here covering that. Happened to me too - noticed on Tuesday, never happened before. Looks like some server-side change on Steam, but no official word anywhere.

Same here. This is dumb.

I understand safety and security are important....but when im logged in from the same IP, country, zip code, playing games on the logged in account. ITS PROBABLY THE SAME PERSON.

At least let me, as a user opt out of such an annoying feature.
