Mode shift for face buttons

Is it possible to mode shift face buttons for R1 and L1? I am only able to create one mode shift for either L1 or R2 but not both. Thanks for any help! So basically I am trying to configure 12 different buttons by doing this.

Could try adding an extra command for each face button, set their activator to Button Chord, and set Chord Button to the other bumper:

• 'X' button gear icon > Add extra command
  
  
• For that extra command: gear icon > top row ('Regular Press') to select activator > Button Chord > gear icon again > Settings > set the Chord Button

An alternative is to make use of Action Layers.
