Steam clients on two different PCs on the same LAN appear to take each other offline.
Logging into the same Steam account at the same time on the same LAN on my Lenovo handheld and Asus desktop will disconnect from each other.

This happens when one PC logs in successfully, but the Steam client on the other PC that is already logged in successfully shows “No connection” at the bottom.

I was trying to use Steam's local game transfer feature to transfer games from the desktop to the handheld, but I've never been able to get both PCs to log into Steam at the same time.

I did ask Steam support for help, but they just said it was a problem with my network.

So I logged one of my idle mini PCs into my same Steam account, but did not disconnect my desktop or handheld from the Steam network, and logging in on the desktop or handheld does not affect the mini PC.

So, it's only my handheld and desktop that have this problem.

I looked in Steam's logs folder and found similar logs on both PCs:
connection_log.txt

Schedule init returned 1 [2024-XX-XX **:40:39] CCMInterface::YieldingConnect -- calling ISteamDirectory/GetCMListForConnect web api

It looks like the Steam server sent a logout request and demanded not to reconnect.

I hope someone can help.

No problem in the first place is "“No connection” at the bottom.of the client.
this mean's steam cant see your pc is there.

What happend at your network i don't know, all from VPN to wifi or congested 'ISP area is a possiblity.

The connection into steam seenm to be a issue, update router firmware and test own cable could bea a good idea, even talk with own ISP, and test for bad packets.

if you dont know what latency is on network then talk with own ISP.

ps.
Don't get court in BIOS not update and chipset driver and lan driver, most have onboard lan card today, what i ment withg this then you talk with ISP thye should point at same lack of update and routng issue or slow outdate driver and then they will look at latency.

its quite simple if you cant maintain connection into steam, establizing a connection and keep it alive then they will look at what i point at. ( low latency matter and other things like cable and lets say this is not a isp issue into steam, but your local lan then that the proiblem here.

feel free to test with spare pc or friend laptop, donty get courrt in levono or other QoS , or other ip management that reduce traffic so it share and to many issue that use the lan. at you try figureout what cause your (( NO Connection )) in the steam client.
