Going to blow my brains out with Steam+R*
OMG I am going crazy with this. I know there have been a lot of posts about this type of thing but I have run into it BAD.

I have my steam account, my son has his. Its been a few years since I played GTAV so I decided to fire it up again. R* used to link with my steam account. I cant log in with my account because I get the message "This Steam account is already linked to another Social Club account" I try a different account and it says “this account is linked to d***********e@g***l.com.
This is one of two accounts that belong to my son. He has access to both of them, and now I do too, he gave me his passwords.

And whats up with this in steam?: [edit: cant seem to paste a pic will try something else]

Ill try to describe it:
In the steam window at the top right it says sp****** with a drop down carrot. (for like settings n stuff)
Left indent in large bold letters it says "hardware_failure's Account"
In contact info Under store & Purchase History and Contact info it says my email address is the sp******@gmail.com. (which I have full access to, but gets no emails)

So WTF is my steam “account name” anyway? Is it sp******, sp******@gmail.com or is it hardware_failure?

I tried:
sp******@gmail.com
2x flavors of
d***********e@g***l.com
and my main email, br*******@gmail.com

All of why I have access to via email client. (and know the passwords)

So. I am a so/so password person. I mean, I don’t use the same password for everything like an idiot but I do have like 20 I cycle thu, depending on the email/service etc. I keep all my current and previous passwords in keypass.

Went thu ALL of the listed emails above with “forgot password” at R* login and the ONLY one that received an email reset option ironically is my br*******@gmail.com, which I see nowhere on steam or R*. and is the only one that shows up as a cached password in chrome (which is wrong) I mean, I got the message “a password reset link has been sent to your email” or something like that, and NONE (except that br**** one) received ANY emails from R* OR Steam.

So I reset my password with the link from R*, got a confirmation code, AND THE LOGIN DOESN’T WORK.

And yes yes yes I did all of the following:
- Uninstalled Steam.
- Uninstalled GTAV.
- Manually deleted C:\Users\[username]\Documents\Rockstar Games\
- Did a DNS flush (ipconfig /flushdns)
- Reinstalled Steam and R* garbage
- Rebooted each time of each step

SAME PROBLEMS.

So this is more of a rant but still a legit complaint I think. My steam account has a fully paid for GTAV, my sons does not. So my dumb ass (well more like angry ass at how the system works now) is I think I made the mistake of switching steam accounts on my sons computer to mine temporally back when steam and R* were totally linked so he could try it. (I wasn’t using it at the time) I mean you pay for the game with your account, why cant I take it wherever I want? Back in the day when consoles were carts, I could just take a game THAT I PAID FOR to a friends house, play it, then go home with it. Same thing continued into PS and XBOX with optical drives. Now everything is linked online. I mean I PAID for the game, why cant I play it on any same type console I want?

So what are people going to tell me the answer is? Contact R* with an account RECOVERY. Fine.

But my concern is, how do I describe/word/explain my above F***ed up confusing situation in a way that some support person that gets paid the eqiv of say $15/hr so that they will understand it and be able to help me?

Im a tech guy and do a lot of tech support, both hardware and software and I must have reset 1000+ passwords in my life. Never have I had such a problem.

I am so so so so frustrated right now.

Thanks for any help.

To the left is your Steam login name

Changing your Steam password won't help

You need to do the changes on the Rockstar site since all linking and password will be on their end.

Furthermore you can't transfer a game license on Steam. So it sounds like your son linked your account/game to his Rockstar account.
