If i remove a game from my account can i get it back
if i was to right click on one of my games in my libary for example portal and select remove from account. Would going to support then saying "this game isn't in my libary" recover it? searching online gives varying answers.

Yes. If you remove a paid game with the " remove from account" option you can at any time go to the Support page, select the game in question and choose "its not in my library" and then Steam will give you the option to restore the license.
Agree and it will be back in your library. Its more of a advanced "hiding" function, while the game license gets deactivated its still linked to your account, just invisible until you reactivate it.

This does NOT work for free to play titles. If you remove those from your account you have to go to the store page for the game and add it again to your library. Those really get removed from your account.

Just to add to what was posted above. If you do remove the game but later forget and try to buy it again, you will still be charged as normal but will still be technically buying the same game license that you already own.

If i remember correctly that was changed a few years ago. If you now try to rebuy a "removed" game it will say something like " You previously owned this game but decided to remove it from your account at "date". Do you want to restore the license?"
And then you get it back, it wont let you buy the same license.

Of course if you buy a bundle or a different edition that contains stuff you did not own previously like DLC the rebuy will work and just reactivate the old license in the process.
