Steam Remote Play no audio, tried a lot of different solutions
Hi everyone!

My friend and I have been trying to use steam remote play to play a few different games and can't seem to get any audio to play through their end when they join the stream. We tried practically everything we could find online with problems people were having in the past including:

Tweaking the settings within steam remote play itself:

- mute/unmute audio via shift+tab and other related settings
- holding option on the controller to check if the stream was muted

Changing the steam settings page for remote play:

- basically switched everything on and off, including steam remote play itself, host audio, hardware encoding, audio types from stereo, bandwidth

Windows 10/11 sound settings:

- changing default devices, disabling controller audio devices, enabling/disabling the steam streaming speakers, 16-24 bit configurations

We also reinstalled steam entirely, and especially made sure to try turning our PCs on and off again.

Maybe we're missing something obvious but we're really sure what else to try, our last resort has been to stream the audio through discord but we would preferably like remote play to work itself. We're wondering if it has something to do with remote playing from a windows 11 to 10 and vice versa but unsure.

Any advice appreciated!

Should be fixed if you both enable the steam beta client, it is a known issue in the current release.
