Steam download hogs all my bandwidth?
Whenever I'm downloading a game Steam just makes my internet unusable for the duration. Even when I try to lower the speed a bit.

How is this possible? Any way I can fix this?

Maybe you should check settings DL section, plenty of option with when and reduce dl/rate.

And make sure you do not haver other multi device at own lan network that use bandwide.

It's very rare user complain over own lack of bandwide, most here with gb lan card also might have gb fiber ISP connections.

ps.
To dl and patch games , mnay have a option do it then pc is idle, many have learn this from IT-compnay that update OS and pc at midnight, this has been done on over 2 decads if not more.

Why will we as games not do this if we can not take advantage of same way they do this.
think over this why waste time on install patch's then you have freetime & play time.

gl with it.

When this happens its generally your router at fault, are you using the router supplied with by your ISP?

Steam opens a ton of parallel connections and often overwhelm crappy routers.

It is not your fault, these dumbasses don't know what they are talking about, my internet is very very fast, gigabyte fast, steam will hog the bandwith period always has been like this, DO NOT start tampering with the thing these dumbasses told to, you will only make things worse. There not such things are probably, might, most likely, if you ever read those words those dumbasses are bound to make your day more difficult.

Appreciate the feedback, it's been months since my post but nothing really changed, Steam just hogs all of the damn bandwidth when it's downloading, which basically makes my internet unusable for anything else.

Thx but tried lowering speed in the Steam settings, like I mentioned in the opening post. But didn't work, hence my confusion.

My internet is not super fast so it takes me several hours to download a really big game, which sucks.
